Alaska bush pilot found her wings in Young Life.
“It was hard for me as a kid. I would just be wandering in the dark, not knowing what to do, or my purpose, just looking for love or people to accept me … Those kids who are in the middle of nowhere — in these villages — it almost feels like you’re stuck. I want to fly to these places where these kids are and make sure that they’re seen, that’s the goal.”
More than 10 years in the making, this video tells the story of Dolena Fox, a high schooler involved in Young Life when we first met her in 2013. By 2023, she had become one of rural Alaska’s first indigenous bush pilots and we caught up with this light to hear how she now loves people through the vehicles of Young Life and her airplane.
