Young Life’s Resources for Rest and Intimacy in Him
Most would agree, we live in precarious times. It turns out that the word “precarious” and the word “prayer” share the same Latin root. As we seek to navigate an increasingly unstable world, it’s fitting we draw near to God and pour out our hearts to him.
Young Life was born out of prayer, and we recognize our complete dependence upon the Lord for our work with adolescents. While we seek him in prayer daily, we also set aside one day every October to pray as one mission. Each year we provide resources (a solitude guide and teams guide) on the Global Day of Prayer site. Both guides are available in multiple languages.
This year’s Global Day of Prayer is an invitation to rest in intimacy with our creator: God with us. Jesus invites us to “come away with him to a quiet place to rest” (Mark 6:31). He gave this invitation to his disciples after they returned excited, tired, and hungry from their first “missions trip,” and he’s inviting you to do the same.
May we become known as an organization filled with women and men deepening their lives in God daily through prayer. Now more than ever we need to draw near to our Father and pour out our hearts to him. He will gladly receive us. And we can be assured we’ll be heard, held, and empowered to become agents of hope and healing in this hurting world.
