The front-row seat we get remains the same
Do you remember the first Christmas you really knew the Savior? The first time you really understood why Christmas is so significant?
Maybe you began a relationship with Jesus through Young Life. Maybe it was at camp. If so, that following Christmas probably felt a lot different. The songs, the traditions, the stories which you’d heard as a child, seemed to take on new significance, since you now had the Spirit of Christ living in you.
Jim Rayburn, the founder of Young Life, recognized this change and loved calling it out to the wider mission, in letters just like this one …

It’s been 65 years since Rayburn penned these sentiments, but the truth remains. Jesus Christ changes lives, and every year in Young Life we have a front-row seat to see adolescents go from death to life. The baby born in a manger now brings new birth to countless kids every year, and your care, prayers, and support are an essential part of making this happen.
This Christmas would you pray …
- For all the adolescents experiencing their first Holy Day.
- This season continues to deepen their love for the Savior, for their families, and for their friends.
- For boldness as they talk to many for the first time about their newfound faith.
- For those who will hear their salvation stories — for open hearts and minds — to the good news that Christ the Savior is born.
Once again, Merry Christmas!
